Washington State Ferries Breaks Ground on New Colman Dock
Washington State Ferries celebrated the start of in-water construction on Seattle’s new Colman Dock with a groundbreaking ceremony held Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 at the Seattle Multimodal Terminal.

Washington State Ferries Director Amy Scarton speaks about the Colman Dock project. Washington State Governor Jay Inslee spoke at the ceremony as well.
Wood Harbinger Senior Associate Joe Leysath, the lead electrical engineer for the project, attended the ceremony along with lead design team consultant BergerABAM, and KPFF, NBBJ, and SRG representatives.
As part of a collaborative GC/CM team, Wood Harbinger provided electrical power, communications, and low voltage systems design for the multi-phase Colman Dock renovation. This major update to Seattle’s iconic waterfront addresses the age and seismic vulnerabilities of the Washington State Ferries’ largest terminal. The $350 million replacement project will be phased over five years to enable ongoing ferry terminal operations. The Colman Dock team interfaced with the City of Seattle Seawall project to coordinate key related elements and utility services.
