By Nick Baker, EIT, LEED AP BD+C Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC systems have the potential to be very energy efficient and flexible in their application. With relatively few system components, the system works by moving refrigerant to the zone needing to be heated or cooled, allowing precise control of the temperature in that area.
