Maintenance Facility Expansion and Renovation
Alaska Airlines
Sea-Tac International Airport, SeaTac, WA

Size: 163,000 SF

Construction Cost: $22.5 Million

This project renovated 75,000 SF of shop and office areas, and added 88,000 SF of new construction for the Alaska Airlines Line Maintenance complex constructed in 1966, and expanded in 1988.

The work included a new central heating plant, new central mechanical equipment, upgraded fire protection, security, and telecommunications services. The project also included an overall upgrade of the emergency fixtures throughout the complex and replaced pneumatic controls with a state-of-the-art energy management/control system. Wood Harbinger provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the modifications and additions.

The project was constructed in multiple phases, with continuous occupancy of all areas of the facility not under construction. Innovative engineering and construction sequencing was required to facilitate the construction process without interruption of maintenance or administrative functions.
