Size: 828,000 SF

Construction Cost: $800 Million

Wood Harbinger provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the replacement of the dry dock water treatment system at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton. The new efficient storm water collection system replaces the dry dock troughs and trenches with an integrated collection and treatment system for receiving, storing, and treating dry dock wastewater generated by ship maintenance, repair operations, industrial processes, and storm water run-off.

Wood Harbinger’s design includes pumps and pipelines to connect the dry dock industrial process water collection systems with the holding tanks for the collection and treatment of the dry dock wastewater. This project scope also included modifications to the dry dock floors to ensure that all of the industrial process contaminated water is collected and appropriately treated prior to discharge. Once treated, the water is safely discharged into the dry dock drainage system or city sewer.

Through Wood Harbinger’s design, the Shipyard will be in compliance with current industry standards for the collection and treatment of industrial process water and storm water from dry docks.
