Professional Development

The strength of our team grows as we deepen the capabilities of the individuals that comprise it. To that end, we are committed to understanding and growing the skills of all our people. We actively invest in continuing education for staff members at all levels.

All Wood Harbinger employees are given the latitude and empowerment to express ideas and explore them creatively. Every individual is entrusted to self-manage within a set of firm-wide processes and is provided with support and leadership. By leveraging our combined strengths and passions, we can create highest value project outcomes that exceed our clients’ expectations.

We offer paid study time and paid exam fee for employees seeking their E.I.T. or P.E.

We support our existing Professional Engineers through continuing education opportunities, paying for Washington State license renewal, and supporting licensure for any other state required for Wood Harbinger work.

Industry Involvement

Our staff attend local, regional, and national conferences within their areas of specialization. We promote ongoing learning and certifications in the areas of sustainability, engineering, technology, and commissioning. We pay for memberships and associated costs.

We also participate as board members and committee members in the professional organizations across a range of technical disciplines. Examples include:

  • American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)
  • Building Commissioning Association (BCxA)
  • Design Build Institute of America (DBIA)
  • Society of American Military Engineers (SAME)
  • Washington State Society for Healthcare Engineering (WSSHE)
  • International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL)
  • Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS)

Wood Harbinger also actively participates in the ACE Mentor Program of Washington. ACE is a volunteer enrichment program for high school students interested in a career in the built environment design and construction field.
