Juice Day: A Health Revolution Begins

Blood, sweat, tears, and a highly emotionally charged atmosphere.

No, those aren’t the ingredients in the fresh-pressed juices prepared for our colleagues…but that was the scene in the kitchen on the morning of Thursday, September 17th. With hands furiously chopping, blending, crushing, smashing, mushing, and mashing, Margaret Felts, Andy Brown, and Mark Rogalski kept a couple of juicers running at top speed. The result: a trio of planned juices and a pair of “fly by the seat of your pants” juices, which made their debut in the hallway outside our main conference room.

Mark Rogalski, Margaret Felts, and Andy Brown, juicing up a storm!

Our own Margaret Felts’ “Carrot Surprise,” proved the belle of the ball, delighting drinkers as carrots, lemon, apple, and celery danced and dazzled decadently across their taste buds. Not to be completely outdone, “The Incredible Hulk,” the “Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity,” and the “Tom8o Delight,” shined with their own unique spark, giving people a full array of different flavor blends and taste profiles.

Delicious tomatoes for “Tom8o Delight.”

Sadly, not all “whatever is left,” juices turn out as elegantly as Margaret’s. My “Green Lemonade” played the role of the ugly stepsister at this soiree (and yes, I turned into a pumpkin at midnight).

Hard at work!

Mmmmmm, KALE!

Engineering New Juice Blends

The real fun began when people decided to start mixing the juices. Leave it to engineers to start playing with the design! “Let’s try this,” they said, as some mixed one juice blend with another. “What about this?” they said, as some added ingredients off recipe, including hot sauce, black pepper, and other things to create individual concoctions that suited their taste buds.

All in all, it felt like a wild success. Health enthusiast and Engineering Production Specialist David Woods summed it up when he proclaimed, “Wood Harbinger is a collective of intelligence and integrity. It’s time to see that applied to our food choices. Let the health revolution begin.”

Hear, hear!
