In support of a planned $33 million bond levy, Wood Harbinger provided mechanical and electrical
facility assessment, master planning, and design to the 20% DD level for the renovation and expansion
of Lake Chelan Community Hospital. The project provided for completely remodeling the 39,000 SF hospital
and for adding 30,000 SF of hospital space and a four-story parking garage.
Electrical work addressed the complete replacement of the electrical system with new normal and
essential electrical services; an addressable fire alarm system with annunciation; telephone and
data systems; and a security system with proximity card readers and video cameras.
Mechanical systems included heating by electric resistance heaters within air handling units, air
terminal units, and unit heaters; cooling by a chilled water system; distribution piping for medical air,
medical vacuum, waste gas evacuation, and all other necessary medical gasses; and an automatic wet-pipe
and dry-pipe sprinkler system.
During the project, we participated in value engineering which saved $1.43 million out of the estimated
$33 million construction cost. The bond levy did not pass the required super majority vote, and
the project was not constructed.
