Wood Harbinger analyzed the existing facility and provided mechanical design, sustainability
criteria, construction administration, and commissioning for the Maplewood remodel and addition.
The facility is used by the Maplewood K-8 Parent Cooperative and the Maplewood Center which serves severely disabled students.
The project included renovating 26,000 SF and adding 50,600 SF to house 20 learning settings supported by
adjacent activity areas, a media center, commons, gymnasium, administrative area, and specialized technology and music spaces.
Sustainable design features include daylighting, passive/natural ventilation, operable windows, use of corridor towers
as ventilation shafts, and deciduous trees on the south and west elevations for shade.
