Corrosion Control Hangar

Fallon Naval Air Station - Fallon, NV

Wood Harbinger provided prime A/E services for the development of a design-build Request for Proposal for the design and construction of an 11,151 SF Corrosion Control Hangar at Fallon Naval Air Station.

The facility provides corrosion control (scuff sanding, feather edging, paint removal, and aircraft painting). The Aircraft Service Bay accommodates SH60 helicopters and E2C, EA6B, F-5, F-14, F-16, F/A-18E/F, and F/A-18C/D aircraft.

Project requirements included a 100% filtered outside air, horizontal uniform flow air distribution system for painting, drying, and paint removal operations. The project also included an in-floor grate AFFF fire protection system, compressed air, breathing air, and support utilities.

Five systems filter the paint-filled air before it is released from the hangar. The process exhaust air meets all federal, state, and local environmental requirements for the paints, solvents, and abrasive dust generated during corrosion removal.
