South Terminal Expansion

Sea-Tac International Airport - SeaTac, WA

The South Terminal Expansion project enabled the Port of Seattle to meet its growing passenger load while strengthening safety and enhancing the passenger experience.

Wood Harbinger:
  • Provided an in-depth analysis of the existing systems infrastructure;
  • Designed solutions to meet current energy codes while tying into existing systems; and
  • Supported complex construction and phasing within an operating facility.
We contributed to the project’s success by:
  • Addressing the unique architectural design and increased security requirements post 9/11;
  • Seamlessly integrating new mechanical and electrical systems with existing systems to support uninterrupted operation of the airport;
  • Innovatively designing a state-of-the-art smoke control system for the unique layout of the South Hall;
  • Designing cost-effective solutions such as the re-use of ventilation air to heat the baggage handling area; and
  • Designing 100% redundant mechanical and electrical utility systems for the Combined Communications and Command Center.
