Third Floor Remodel, Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, WA

Wood Harbinger is renovating the 3rd Floor, which is used for Oncology patients, and adding 800 SF on the south end of the floor. This project will upgrade all of the patient rooms to the current PSPH standards and re-program all of the core areas of the floor. The south addition will include a new Family Waiting Room and two offices.

In the remodel project, the existing zone valves on the east side of the floor will be removed and replaced with a new valve box feeding oxygen and MV outlets in all patient rooms on the east side. As much of the existing horizontal MV piping as possible will be reused. New piping with brazed joints to meet the new NFPA 99 requirements will also be used. Because of contamination experienced in the older oxygen piping in the building, all existing oxygen piping will be replaced. New medical gas piping will be labeled.

One aspect of the HVAC system on this floor which will differ from other remodeled floors is the method of heating the perimeter rooms. In order to provide the maximum amount of useable floor space, the finned tube radiation will be eliminated and rooms will be heated with the use of hot water coils added to the new fan coil units. Since the fan coil units are sized to deliver adequate air for cooling, there will be sufficient air delivered along the windows to also provide adequate heating of these rooms from overhead air.
