Sherwood Forest Elementary School, Bellevue School District, Bellevue, WA
Wood Harbinger provided mechanical and electrical design and construction administration services for the new Sherwood Forest Elementary School. The 65,000 SF school was designed to support the school’s large special needs population. It includes six classroom clusters, library/learning center, resource center, gymnasium, and food service area.
The mechanical and electrical systems design complies with Bellevue School District Standards and includes the following:
- All areas are heated, ventilated, and air conditioned with ducted air handling systems and outside air economizers. Carbon dioxide sensors maintain proper air quality and minimize outside air intake to reduce energy costs. Heating is through a hydronic heating water system with gas-fired high efficiency boilers. Two boilers are provided for redundancy and better low load efficiency.
- Cooling is provided by a high efficiency air-cooled rotary chiller.
- A Direct Digital Control (DDC) system, connected to the School District central network, automatically controls and monitors the HVAC systems.
- An addressable fire alarm system and automatic wet pipe type sprinklers serve the entire building.
- Cable TV and classroom sound reinforcement/video systems with full wireless capabilities, overhead LCD projectors, and Smart Boards are provided.
- An Energy Life Cycle Cost Analysis, complying with WAC 180-27, evaluated the economic feasibility of various building system options.
